In The Headlights

My favourite singer/songwriter/artist at the minute is 'Frightened Rabbit'. Downloaded his album 'The Midnight Organ Fight' earlier in the week. Got into it straight away. Reminded me a little of Damien Rice at first and his voice has similarities to Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol. Raw and emotional stuff. Worth checking out for sure.

Oxegen Acts and War Child Gig

According to Hotpress.com The Kings of Leon, The Killers and Snow Parol will play this years Oxegen Festival which runs between 10-12 July (Punchestown, Co. Kildare, Ireland). I would imagine that they will each headline a night.
The Killers are also doing a gig with Coldplay on the 18th Feb (same night as Brit Awards) at Shepherds Bush Empire. Its a charity gig in aid of Warchild. They will each play a 45min set.

Everyone loves a freebie and the Doves are giving away a download on their website www.doves.net its a tune called 'jetstream' and will be on the new album 'Kingdom of Rust' due 3rd April.

The new Coldplay video is a bit different. Liking the puppet idea. They are all good likenesses apart from Guy. Doesn't look anything like him. See for yourself...

I Know Local Sport Is Rubbish But.....

On the front page of the local football pullout in the 'Daily Mirror' today a headline reads 'WIN A SKIP FOR YOUR TEAM BY MIDNIGHT TONIGHT'. You can imagine the delight of the amateur league teams all over the land "a skip, just want we need to improve team moral". What could actually be won was a complete team kit. It seems that the person who produced the headline could not decide between kit and strip and so amalgamated the two to form 'skip'.

Andy Pandering

It is amazing how the British press go into overdrive in praise of any homegrown sports man/woman who is half decent. Tim Henman being the prime example. The massive hype surrounding Andy Murray in the lead up to the Australian open was embarrasing. He was knocked out today by the way. Saw a little bit of one of his earlier games on the BBC and the commentators kept droning on about his physique. He's a feckin athlete, hardly surprising that he is in shape. Murray is better now than Henman ever was but I think it would help if the media didn't put him on a pedestal.

Hulk green with envy

Just saw about 15 min of 'Hogan Knows Best' (basically a reality show about wrestler Hulk Hogan and his family)
Hulk was acting more like a kid than his 14 year old son. Got got very jealous because mini Hulk was spending too much time with a female friend. Hulk Sr's answer to the probem? Get a beautiful model to go for a little trip in a car with jr, hence making the current squeeze jealous.
Hogan Knows Best. I think not.
